Cornelia P.M. van Berkel attended art school and worked as a Delfts Blue painter in the Netherlands exhibiting her sculptures and paintings (pen and ink, water colours, oils, pastels) before coming to Canada in 1979. For 34 years her business THE BLUE SHOE STUDIO has been very successful in producing handmade and handpainted ceramics. Mostly Delfts Blue and later one of a kind designs like Tulips, Seastars and Coastal, plus many more. While selling her work to stores and galleries many pieces were sold and collected worldwide. Another interest is photography, starting when she was a teenager. Now that she has retired, Cornelia is currently concentrating on her painting using canvas, wood and driftwood. Animals and nature are her big love and she has always been speaking up for their rights. Cornelia lives and works on the Sunshine Coast of BC Canada.
